According to an ancient narration of our ancestors, a nice and beautiful girl called Kačenka is living in the Eagle Mountains. She is clement and fair as the mountain nature itself is. She helps honest and poor people and punishes idlers and dishonest fellows. Sometimes a master of the adjoining Giant Mountains, Mr. Krakonoš himself, comes into Kačenka´s mountains. He likes the beauty-Kačenka and would like to take her with him and marry her. But she likes her mountains too much and won´t leave them. In spite of very kindly and sensitive refusal of her, the Giant Mountains´ master is always very offended at it. He gets awfully angry and activates all the destroying forces which he rules. He starts lightings and thundering, overflows the banks of all the streamlets, torrents and rivers in the Eagle Mountains. He makes windbreaks and damages all over the forest landscape. So furious and angry he returns home into the northern mountains. After some time he gets calm and his offence elapses. He feels lonely and visits Kačenka again with hope not to be refused. Sometimes things may happen.
